Boise County Sheriffs deputies are still trying to figure out what caused Dale L. Hartwick to lose control of his pickup truck on Grimes Creek Road late Friday night a rollover crash that killed Hartwick and injured another man inside.
Officials say the 44-year-Hartwick was driving his truck north on Grimes Creek Road sometime late Friday night when the truck went off the side of the road just past milepost 4 and rolled over into the creek.
The partially submerged truck wasnt discovered until about 9 a.m. the next morning by a passerby, who called 911.
Clear Creek emergency crews got to the truck first and were able to get the passenger out. An air ambulance arrived a short time later and took that man to Saint Alphonus Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released over the weekend, Chief Deputy Dale Rogers said.
Rogers said he wasnt sure what injuries the passenger sustained in the crash. Hartwick was declared dead at the scene of the crash.
It is unclear how Hartwick died. Coroners reports were not available Monday morning. Rogers said the creek is running high because of snow melt and the water is very cold, but wasnt sure if that was a factor.
