The Idaho Steelheads, the No. 3 seed, will square off against the Colorado Eagles, the No. 6 seed, in the first round of the ECHL Western Conference playoffs.
The best-of-seven series begins at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday at CenturyLink Arena. It will be the first time the two teams have faced each other in the postseason.
Idaho (45-20-7, 97 points) played its final regular-season game Saturday night at Stockton. The Thunder defeated the Steelheads 4-2.
Colorado (34-31-6, 74 points) dropped its season finale to Utah, a 4-3 shootout loss.
Idaho went 7-1 against Colorado during the regular season. Last season, Colorado had the advantage, winning the season series 6-1-1.
Colorado is playing its second season in the ECHL, while Idaho joined the league for the 2003-04 season. The Steelheads won Kelly Cup championships in 2004 and 2007. They reached the Kelly Cup Finals in 2010.
