No. 1 singles player Andy Bettles, ranked No. 29, defeated Benjamin Recknagel, 6-1, 6-0 to notch his 11th straight victory. Boise State hosts Utah State at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Appleton.
BSU WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos (9-5 overall, 6-0 at home) rolled past Portland State 7-0 at Appleton Tennis Center, sweeping all seven points for the sixth time in seven home matches this season. The Broncos host Lewis-Clark State at 10 a.m. Saturday at Appleton.
COLLEGE OF IDAHO SIGNS 10 NEW FOOTBALL PLAYERS
The Coyotes, who launch their new program in 2014, now have 16 players in their recruiting class, coach Mike Moroski announced Thursday. The group includes eight players from Idaho. The 10 new recruits are RB/LB Hunter Larsen (Emmett High), LB Trevor Henderson (Vallivue), LB Travis Spengler (Kuna), linemen Jacob Segali (Centennial) and Masen McCormick (Cheney, Wash.), WR/DBs Lance Jones (Garden Valley), Josh Lopez (Caldwell), Taylor Gillens (Rigby) and Nick Chambard (Union Gap, Wash.), and K Cesar Montes (McCall-Donnelly). The C of I is an NAIA program that will compete in the Frontier Conference.
C OF I TRACK & FIELD: Austin Basterrechea took second in the decathlon at the California Multis in Berkeley, Calif., after winning the 1,500 meters (4:17.65). He finished 6,742 points, a school-record total.
