Boise Philharmonic and Langroise Trio cellist Samuel Smith has always been a little out there. He contemplates the Tao of cello, practices tai chi and now he's creating an unusual collaborative project that involves musicians, a physicist and the unknown. "Music From the Fringe" brings together four cellists and composers David Alan Earnest and Jim Cockey, who will work with a remote viewing director, a facilitator and an artistic director to create a new work in three days. The piece will be performed on the third day with four additional cellists.
If you're in the mood for something more traditional, the Langroise Trio - Smith, violinist Geoffrey Trabichoff and violist David Johnson - will perform works by Beethoven and Arensky on April 4 and 5.
