Christine and Nathen Bennett are a mother-and-son team who started Boise Express in October.
Building on their experience with Showcase Limousine, a higher-end transportation company, the Bennetts created Boise Express to be a shuttle service between the Boise Airport and local hotels.
The shuttles are chauffeured minicoaches with flat-screen televisions, hard candies and bottled water. Riders from the airport can take a short tour of Boise that includes city sights, popular locations and dining options. The company also sells private car service and transportation for wine tours, Christmas-light tours and outdoor excursions such as skiing trips.
They secured bank financing and hired nine part-time employees.
"For the past four months, I have been on the front lines of the Boise business culture," says Nathen Bennett. "Every time I have passengers in my shuttle I feel privileged to be the first person they meet and the first impression they get of this city. On my trip up Vista, I explain the sites: The BSU blue turf, the history of the train depot and the state Capitol."
Bennett says he considers himself not just a shuttle driver, but a promoter of Boise, a tour guide and something like a hotel concierge.
"The business passengers always pick my brain for the local hot spots, convention spots, and if they were to bring their family next time, what some of the recreational things does Boise offers. ... I love my job."
