The Nampa School District Board of Trustees on Monday night voted to close Sunny Ridge Elementary this fall to cuts costs.
Most of Sunny Ridge's students will shift to Lake Ridge Elementary and others will go to Iowa and Reagan elementary schools.
On March 12, voters approved a $4.3 million levy to cure the school district's shortfall due to bad accounting.
During Monday's meeting, Interim Superintendent Thomas Michaelson announced the deficit has grown to $5.1 million.
The board also voted voted not to expand New Horizons Dual Language Magnet Elementary School into middle school and to end the school's busing service.
