A 52-year-old Nampa man was charged with felony lewd conduct with a minor Sunday, after a standoff with police at his home.
Officers who are investigating a child abuse case obtained a search warrant to enter the home of Patrick Michael Massie but when they arrived at about 10:20 a.m., he refused to come out, or let them in. Massie lives in the 400 block of South Chestnut Street.
Police say they obtained information at the scene that Massie owns several firearms. They called in the Tactical Response Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team, and then evacuated several homes nearby.
Crisis negotiators spoke with Massie by phone, and after 50 minutes he came out of the residence and surrendered to police. He is being held in the Canyon County Jail and will be arraigned on Monday.
Lewd conduct with a minor is any lewd or lascivious act upon or with a child under 16 with the "intent of arousing, appealing to, or gratifying the lust or passions or sexual desires of such person, such minor child, or third party."
