Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State softball splits games at home tournament

The Broncos lost to Idaho State 6-4 before beating Portland State 2-1 on the second day of the SpringHill Suites Invitational on Saturday at Dona Larsen Park. Tara Glover tied the school record with four hits in the meeting with the Bengals, but Idaho State's Amanda Fitzsimmons fueled ISU's effort with two home runs and an RBI double.

BSU MEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos upset No. 22 Notre Dame 4-3 in the semifinals of the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala. After being swept in doubles, BSU got singles victories from Andy Bettles, Nathan Sereke, Thomas Tenreiro and Greg Patton for the edge. BSU faces Texas Tech in the finals Sunday.

BSU WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos lost to Marshall 4-2 at the Blue-Gray Classic. Sandy Vo and Morgan Basil earned singles victories for the Broncos (7-5) and combined for a win in doubles.


NNU women's basketball falls at regional tournament

Chelsie Luke scored 22 points, and Megan Hingston recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but the Crusaders (20-9) fell behind early in a 68-57 loss to conference opponent Simon Fraser in the first round of the NCAA Division II national tournament Saturday in Bellingham, Wash. Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe had game highs of 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead Simon Fraser (24-5), extending her GNAC record for career double-doubles to 61.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO SOFTBALL: The Coyotes swept a doubleheader against Northwest Christian 10-0 and 8-0 in Eugene, Ore. Paige Gabiola hit a grand slam for the C of I (15-13, 3-5 Cascade Conference) in the first game.

C OF I BASEBALL: The Coyotes topped Puget Sound 4-1 in Caldwell. Ryan Eddy threw a complete-game three-hitter for the C of I (12-9).
