Crash in Star sends seven people to hospital

Published: March 16, 2013

A crash that happened in Star around noon on Saturday sent seven people to the hospital, some with serious injuries, said Ada County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Andrea Dearden.

A minivan carrying a family of six from Star was traveling west on Floating Feather Road. The minivan's 16-year-old male driver was trying to turn left onto Pollard Road when the minivan collided with a truck driven by a 25-year-old man, also from Star.

Everyone involved in the crash was taken to the hospital, including the other passengers in the minivan, a 45-year-old woman, and four children between the ages of 8 and 15.

The four children remain in the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The others were treated and released.

The crash remains under investigation, said Dearden. No citations or charges have been issued.

Everyone in the minivan was wearing a seat belt.

Star Police, the Ada County Sheriff's Department, the Eagle Fire Department and Ada County Paramedics all responded to the crash. The intersection was closed for several hours.
