WAC men's basketball tournament: Vandals, top two seeds fall

LAS VEGAS - Daniel Mullings scored 23 points to lead New Mexico State over Idaho 65-49 Thursday in the Western Athletic Conference quarterfinals.

Mullings was 10 of 14 from the field for the game for New Mexico State (22-10). Bandja Sy added 14 points and had seven rebounds. Sim Bhullar had seven points and seven rebounds.

No. 3 seed New Mexico State led 32-28 at halftime.

Both teams had 26 rebounds, but New Mexico State shot 60 percent from the field for the game, while the Vandals (12-18) shot 40 percent. Idaho had 16 turnovers, which the Aggies converted into 25 points.

Kyle Barone led No. 6 seed Idaho with 19 points and five rebounds. Connor Hill had 14 points. Mike McChristian also had five rebounds.

New Mexico State will play the winner of the Thursday afternoon match between Denver and Texas State on Friday.
