Boise Police: Emmett woman who stole 6 DVDs charged with felony burglary

Published: March 14, 2013

Olivia M. Stevig is being held in the Ada County Jail on a felony burglary charge after Boise police say she stole six DVDs from a store on Vista Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they have evidence Stevig went into the store with the intent to steal, which is why she is charged with felony burglary instead of a misdemeanor shoplifting charge.

Police say the 22-year-old Stevig went into a store in the 1600 block of South Vista Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and tried to walk out with six movies — “Life of Pi”, “Peter Pan”, “Twilight”, “Argo”, “Skyfall”, and “Monsters Inc.” Employees of the store detained her until police got there, according to reports.

Stevig has two previous convictions on petit theft charges in Ada County in 2011, according to Idaho court records.

Stevig will make her initial court appearance Thursday afternoon.

The crime of burglary is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
