OPEN CARRY
Boise Towne Square should reconsider gun free zone
The "Cash and Open Carry" story (Feb. 26) was excellent. I appreciate knowing the Boise Towne Square is officially a Victim Disarmament Zone (aka "Gun-Free Zone"), with the only firearms allowed being those carried by criminals and policemen. Since I cannot bring a policeman with me when I shop, I will no longer patronize any of the stores in the Boise Towne Square.
This mall is owned by a company, General Growth Properties, that also owns the Clackamas Town Center mall in Portland, where a similar Victim Disarmament policy resulted in an active shooter killing several helpless victims. That killer was stopped by a man carrying a concealed weapon - in violation of the mall's disarmament policy. I am surprised the mall owners did not try to prosecute the armed citizen who stopped the killings.
The fact that the owners of the Boise Towne Square want their customers to be helpless victims should not be a surprise. GGP is from Chicago, with America's most rabid civilian disarmament laws - and with 532 people killed by criminals last year. Do the Boise Towne Square owners want to see that kind of "gun-free zone safety" here in Idaho?
