BOISE STATE BASKETBALL

Broncos' black unis more of a nuisance

When the Oakland Raiders first wore black, in the early '60s, it was a significant departure from the norm in teams' traditional colors. Gradually, teams started adding black or darkening their traditional colors. It has gone from the outcast Raiders to the norm.

Black has become blasé.

So now the question, why do what everybody else is doing?

It's bad enough having to buy blue, orange and white, depending on the day, now black apparently is going to be added to that mix.

Boise State needs to have its own identity. The blue turf is certainly that and more. When watching highlights on ESPN, one never knows if it's Boise State or some other school they're seeing.

Take the example of USC, Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc., and stick with traditional school colors. Someone picked those colors years ago, we ought to stick with them.

BOISE STATE FOOTBALL

Bleymaier was fired, shouldn't be honored

Whether or not Gene Bleymaier was good or bad for BSU athletics might be a matter of opinion. The inescapable fact, however, is that he was fired "for lack of institutional control" that resulted in NCAA sanctions on the program.

In what alternative universe do you honor someone you had to fire for cause? Regardless of how some might feel, this action will be a permanent embarrassment to us all.

Jerry Sandusky was at Penn State for a long time. I'm sure some believe he did some good during his tenure, but I doubt the university will name the locker room showers after him.

RACE TO ROBIE CREEK

Thanks to Bandanna for sponsoring

I would like to express my thanks to the Bandanna Running & Walking store for sponsoring the Race to Robie Creek.

I personally want to thank Shannon and Rich for all their help with me. They truly are appreciated.

I have run Robie the past 17 years, and on March 2, I got in for my 18th run.

Thanks again, Shannon and Rich. I'm so happy to be able to run Robie once again. You are the best.
