With darkness falling, crews put the size of the fire between 150 and 250 acres when they contained it at about 8 p.m., Bureau of Land Management spokesman Nick Yturri said. Commanders pulled BLM and Boise Fire Department crews off the fire after it was contained. Yturri said they planned to return Saturday morning.
The fire, whose cause investigators haven't determined yet, grew rapidly in the late afternoon but settled down as cold temperatures set in, Yturri said.
No injuries were reported.
