A man trying to jump start his truck near a high school in Caldwell died Wednesday when the vehicle started while in gear and pinned him against a curb.

Roy Welsh, 71, of Caldwell, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 1407 E. Homedale Rd., which was reported about 2:40 p.m., according to Idaho State Police.

His 1979 Dodge Ram Charger came to a rest in front of Vallivue High School after striking a cedar tree.

Welsh's family has been notified of his death.

Idaho State Police is investigating.
