Boise chamber supports three state building projects

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce is supporting nearly $6 million in construction and renovation of three state buildings in the Boise area.

The legislature’s budget committee is supposed to vote on those projects in a hearing beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 6.

Projects include:

-- $2.4 million for phase one of a project to renovate and expand the Idaho State Historical Museum in Julia Davis Park. Remodeling would provide additional space for exhibits and school and public programming. Total project cost: $8.9 million with other money coming from the agency and future requests to the legislature.

-- $1.9 million for construction of an anatomy and physiology laboratory at the Idaho State University Meridian Campus. Total project cost: $3.9 million with other support coming from university matching funds.

-- $1.5 million for continued renovation of the Capitol Annex, the former Ada County Court House. When completed, the building will house the Boise campus of the University of Idaho’s law school and the state law library.
