4A: SKYVIEW REACHES SEMIFINALS
District Three champion Skyview (22-2) rolled over Burley 75-48 in its opening game Thursday. The Hawks led by as many as 32 points and had three players score in double figures, including Daniel Slemmer, who scored a game-high 18 points. In the semifinals, Skyview will face defending champion Rigby (17-6), which knocked off Bishop Kelly 52-49 in overtime. Skyview is seeking its first state title since 2009. On the other side of the bracket, Moscow (17-5) defeated District Three runner-up Emmett 65-48 and will face twin Falls (19-7), which beat Century 52-48.
3A: FRUITLAND AIMING FOR THREE-PEAT
MERIDIAN - Fruitland's Bryce Nattress scored a game-high 23 points as the Grizzlies defeated Timberlake 59-55 in the first round. The two-time defending champions advance to face Snake River in Friday's semifinals. Both teams bring 18-5 records into the game. In the other semifinal, Filer (22-2) will face Shelley (20-4), which opened with a 60-40 win over Payette.
1A DIVISION I: LIBERTY CHARTER MOVES ON
CALDWELL - The Patriots advanced to Friday's semifinals with a 69-60 win over Grace. Colton Kladis scored 37 points for Grace. Dominic Hulsey scored 20 points to lead Liberty Charter, which jumped out to a 39-23 halftime lead and held on for the win. Liberty Charter (20-4) will play Kamiah in the semifinals.
1A DIVISION II: SALMON RIVER IN SEMIFINALS
CALDWELL - Leighton Vander Esch recorded a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds as the Savages (23-1) advanced to the semifinals with a 76-40 blowout over Sho-Ban. Salmon River will face Carey (16-9) in Friday's semifinals. Carey was the 2011 state champion. The second semifinal will pit Nezperce (16-5) against Kendrick (17-8).
