Nampa infant’s death ruled accidental

Dulce Jeannette Sanchez was run over by her mother’s car when it rolled backwards.

Ada County Coroner's officials say the death of 11-month old Dulce Jeannette Sanchez — who fell out of a car before being run over in Nampa Thursday afternoon —  was an accident.

The girl's mother had put Dulce and her 2-year-old sibling into the car when a third child opened the door to get in and the 11-month-old fell out, according to police.

"The mother got out of the car to pick up the child and did not realize the car was in gear," according to a news release. "As she picked up the child the car rolled backwards and ran over the mother and child."

Dulce Sanchez died from blunt force trauma to the head, according to coroner's reports. An autopsy was done Friday morning.

Nampa police say the car rolled about 90 feet before crashing into a parked car with the 2-year-old inside. Police responded to the scene at the Country Living Mobile Home Park, 571 Caldwell Blvd., about 4 p.m.

The mother and Dulce Sanchez were transported to a hospital, where the mom was treated for non-life threatening injuries and the girl was pronounced dead. The two other children were not injured.

None of the children were in car seats or wearing seat belts, police say.

The case remains under investigation.
