Cabela's is hosting free fish seminars and activities

Cabela's Spring Great Outdoor Days this weekend will feature fishing seminars, kids' fishing activities, an International Fly Fishing Film Festival, fly tying demos and free presentations by local fishing experts.

The events will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3. Regular store hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

"Free educational and interactive presentations will be led by the world's foremost outfitters and local experts," said Keith Fitzgerald, Cabela's retail marketing manager.

Conservation groups, live music and food trucks will be on hand at the store, 8109 W. Franklin Road, Boise.

Here's the lineup of seminars for the weekend:

SATURDAY

• 11 a.m. Fly Tying Patterns for Spring.

• 1 p.m. Walleye Fishing Techniques.

• 2 p.m. Fly Tying for Women.

• 3 p.m. Smoking Food -Smoke One Day, Eat for a Week.

• 4 p.m. Spring Walleye Q&A.

SUNDAY

• 11 a.m. Fly Casting for Women.

• 1 p.m. Walleye Fishing Techniques.

• 2 p.m. Stay Sharp - Knife Sharpening.

• 3 p.m. Fly Tying 101 -Nymphs for the Boise River.

• 4 p.m. Advanced Trout Fishing.

A kids' fishing pond will be available with kids' casting instruction and a skill course. Staff will clean and package fish that children catch.

The International Fly Fishing Film Festival will feature fishing around the world, from huge trout in New Zealand to giant sheefish in Alaska.

Film showings are 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday; 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Organizations, such as Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the National Rifle Association, also will be there.
