Familiar foe comes to Boise for three-game series

Published: February 27, 2013

The Idaho Steelheads will play the Utah Grizzlies more than any other team this season. The teams have faced off 10 times already, with Idaho compiling a 5-4-1 record. The Steelheads host Utah at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Idaho comes into the series with a 35-15-6 record, good for second in the Mountain Division. Utah (21-27-7) has dropped into last place in the division. The game will mark the return of rookie forward Austin Smith, who hasn't played with Idaho since being called up to Texas of the AHL in early January.

Smith, a Hobey Baker Award finalist after his senior year last season, returned to Idaho this week and practiced with the Steelheads on Tuesday morning. The 24-year-old has played in 23 of Idaho's 56 games, yet has scored more goals (19) than any other Steelheads player.
