Boise gets a snowy lunch, but flakes are not expected to stick around

Published: February 25, 2013

A storm front moving through Southwest Idaho began dropping snow on the Treasure Valley around 10 a.m. Monday and might leave about a inch on the ground before it’s done by early afternoon.

Don’t worry too much about a lousy commute home from work, however. The snow isn’t expected to stick as temperatures in the Boise area are expected to get into the low 40s by Monday afternoon, according to National Weather Service reports.

This is also expected to be the last snow to make it to the Treasure Valley floor in the near future. Outside of a random snow shower Monday night, long-term forecasts show the rest of the week will be mostly sunny and dry, with high temperatures gradually warming up from the low 40s to the low 50s by the weekend, according to National Weather Service reports.

If it feels a little bit colder than it should be Monday, that’s because the average high temperature for Feb. 25 in the Boise area is 48 degrees. Last year on Feb. 25, it was 53 degrees.
