Boise police arrest 45-year-old Caldwell man for 4th DUI

Published: February 25, 2013

Raul Flores is being held in the Ada County Jail on a felony DUI charge after Boise police say was caught driving drunk Saturday night — his fourth such arrest over the last two decades.

Flores has DUI convictions from 1994, 2002, and 2008 in Canyon County, according to Idaho court records. Flores is charged with a felony because the DUI arrest is his third since 2002.

A Boise police officer pulled over Flores’ car on eastbound Interstate 84 near Curtis Road just before midnight Saturday for speeding. The officer detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from Flores, and said he had slurred speech and appeared to be intoxicated. Police also found an open bottle of Budweiser in Flores’ car, according to reports.

Police say the 45-year-old Flores then failed field sobriety tests before he was taken to the jail, where a blood sample was taken for later evidence testing. It appears as if Flores did not take a breath test, so a blood alcohol content percentage was not available Monday morning.

Flores will make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon.

The crime of felony DUI is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
