The investigation began Thursday evening when the 25-year-old victim showed up at Eagle Fire station #2 unclothed and injured. Detectives quickly pieced together the chain of events and arrested two suspects, Kenneth Bowers and Patrick Brown Thursday evening on charges of aggravated battery and robbery.
During the investigation, deputies identified a third man involved in the incident, Joshua J. Schwacofer, 22, of Boise. The 22-year-old was taken into custody Friday night and booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of aggravated battery and robbery, both felonies.
Schwacofer is scheduled to be arraigned in District Court on Monday.
Bowers and Brown remain in the Ada County Jail. Bowers was arraigned on charges of aggravated battery and robbery Friday and is being held on a $250,000 bond. Brown was arraigned on a felony charge of robbery. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Investigators say Bowers, Brown, Schwacofer and an adult female told the victim he needed to repay the money owed. When the 25-year-old said he didnt have the full amount, the suspects allegedly told the victim to take a drive with them. The five drove to a parking lot in the 3100 block of East Greenbrook Street. The suspects forced the victim out of the car and began punching him with brass knuckles and closed fists. One of the men also used a baseball bat to hit the 25-year-old more than a dozen times, including blows to the head.
After battering the victim, the suspects demanded he remove all of his clothing. The group took the 25-year-olds clothes and his backpack containing nearly $500 in cash and left the area. Detectives say Bowers disposed of the victims clothing, the baseball bat and pellet gun he had in his possession. The suspects kept the mans backpack and later hid it in a relatives garage.
Detectives put out an alert to other law enforcement officers in Ada County in an attempt to locate the suspects. A Boise Police patrol officer located Bowers and Brown at a gas station at the corner of Liberty and Fairview. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Ada County Jail. Bowers was booked on charges of aggravated battery, robbery and destruction/alteration of evidence (all felonies). Brown was booked on charges of aggravated battery and robbery (both felonies). They are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges this afternoon in District Court.
Detectives have located the woman believed to be involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing. Additional arrests and charges are pending.
