Idaho colleges roundup: College of Idaho women advance to Cascade final

The Coyotes used a 16-3 first-half run en route to a 71-62 victory over Oregon Tech at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center in Caldwell on Friday night. The C of I advanced to its sixth straight Cascade Conference Championship final, where it will play Monday night at Eastern Oregon (30-2), which beat Southern Oregon 83-55 in its semifinal game. Felicity Jones scored six of her team-high 16 points in the early run for the Coyotes (21-7).

BOISE STATE SWIMMING AND DIVING: Sydney Johansen finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke as the Broncos moved from fifth to second at the Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships in San Antonio. San Diego State leads with 516.5 points, followed by BSU at 360.5 going into the final day.

BSU MEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos lost at San Diego 5-2.

BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos (5-6) beat Weber State 10-1 in five innings at the Amy S. Harrison Classic in Riverside, Calif.

C OF I SOFTBALL: Nickayla Skinner and Cortni Pena each tossed shutouts, leading the Coyotes (9-5) to 7-0 and 8-0 victories over the University of Great Falls at Symms Field.

C OF I SKIING: The Coyotes finished 11th in the giant slalom on Day 2 of the USCSA Western Regionals at Red Lodge Mountain in Montana. On Saturday, the men's and women's slalom races will determine four teams that will represent the region at the USCSA National Championships in Sun Valley.

IDAHO TRACK AND FIELD: Senior Barry Britt won the men's 5,000 (14:53.56) and the women's distance medley team picked up a victory (11:46.10) at the WAC Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The men are fourth going into the final day and the women are fifth.
