Idaho Colleges roundup: College of Idaho women win opener of Cascade tournament

The College of Idaho basketball team, seeded No. 2, beat No. 7 Northwest Christian 65-56 in a quarterfinal game of the Cascade Conference Tournament on Tuesday at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center in Caldwell. Felicity Jones scored 21 points and added 12 rebounds as the Coyotes (20-7) raised their home playoff record to 13-0 under coach Reagan Rossi. The C of I, which limited the Beacons (13-17) to 9-of-33 shooting in the second half, will host a semifinal game against Oregon Tech at 7 p.m. Friday.

BOISE STATE WOMEN'S GOLF: Senior Hayley Young finished sixth at the Folino Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Club in California, leading a trio of Broncos in the top 20 at the team's first tournament of the spring season. Freshman Sammie Pless was 12th and freshman Samantha Martin was 17th as the Broncos finished fifth in the team race.
