Caldwell Police say a 14-month-old boy is being treated at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for a serious injury after being shot by a BB gun at his home Thursday night.
Police say it appears the BB gun was fired inside the apartment by another member of the family, but officials didnt say who that was or how old they are.
Police were sent to an apartment in the 2800 block of S. Montana Avenue, in the Linden Street/10th Avenue neighborhood, after getting phone call asking for medical assistance around 8:40 p.m. Paramedics first took the boy to West Valley Medical Center before moving him to St. Als in Boise.
Caldwell Police say the boys injury appears serious, but did not say how. Caldwell Police Chief Chris Allgood did say the child was not hit in the eye.
Allgood said Friday the injury came from one shot. The BB gun was pumped up at high pressure when the child was hit, which contributed to the severity of the injury, according to reports.
Police had not charged anybody as of 1 p.m. Friday. Allgood said he and his officers have been in contact with Canyon County prosecutors, who likely won't make a charging decision until next week.
