More trees fall in forest, but prices fall, too

The Idaho Department of Lands is reaping record timber harvests, but price drops have cut its timber revenue, says Director Tom Schultz.

Prices in 2008 were about $380 per thousand board-feet, Schultz says. Now, they're only about $200. Revenues peaked in 2007, netting Idaho nearly $50 million. The money helps support education.
