Games pleaseyoung and old

Yes, I'm a mature (read "old" - 93), crotchety, sentimental and patriotic veteran who attended the Boise State-UNLV basketball game Saturday night, Feb. 2, at Taco Bell Arena.

Two things stood out in my mind as highlights.

First, a scrappy, young and talented Broncos basketball team defeated UNLV in a very exciting and energized contest.

Equally as enjoyable was a local family quartet which sang our national anthem to thunderous applause from the entire audience of more than 9,000.

Lip-synch or not, who needs Beyonce?
