The Broncos won nine titles on the second day of the Boise State Team Challenge Saturday at Jacksons Indoor Complex in Nampa. Wins on the women's side included the 4x400-meter relay team of Taryn Campos, Mackenzie Flannigan, Cyntrail Pierce and Yvonne Bennett, who ran the second-fastest indoor time in school history (3:45.16). BSU's other female winners: Pierce (400 meters, 56.64) Rici Morrill (800 meters, 2:12.21) and Taryn Treadway (3,000 meters, 10:17.68). The men's winners: 4x400 relay team of Jeff Daw, Paul Robertson, Tyler June and Andy Robertson (3:19.33), Paul Robertson (200, 22.11), Andy Robertson (800, 1:53.92), Zach Wiles (3,000, 8:32.28) and Chase Sexton (shot put, 56-9.50).
BSU's school record in the women's 3,000 meters was broken twice at the Husky Classic in Seattle. Marisa VanderMalle ran to a sixth-place finish in 9:32.06, then teammate Emma Bates ran a 9:13.63 to place 12th in the invitational race.
BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos came from behind to win twice at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., beating Northwestern 11-3 and Stephen F. Austin 8-4. Boise State hit three home runs against Northwestern, including back-to-back bombs by freshmen Ashley Palmer and Sarah Barnes in a six-run fifth inning.
BSU MEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos beat Minnesota 4-3 in Minneapolis.
IDAHO WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Alyssa Charlston scored 20 points to lift the Vandals past Denver 70-64 in Moscow. It's the third straight win for the Vandals (12-12, 9-4 WAC), who improved to .500 for the first time this season.
IDAHO STATE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Bengals rolled Southern Utah 60-50 in Cedar City, Utah. Cydney Horton scored a career-high 28 points to lead ISU (13-9, 8-5 Big Sky).
NORTHWEST NAZARENE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Crusaders defeated Western Oregon 73-62 in Monmouth, Ore. Megan Hingston posted her 11th double-double of the year with 31 points and 12 rebounds for NNU (17-3, 9-3 GNAC).
