Avisha is a happy, energetic boy who enjoys soccer and being outside. He also enjoys hanging out with friends and playing video games. His strength is his ability to make others laugh despite having more than his share of trouble in his young life.
Born in Liberia amid civil strife and brutality, Avisha and his sister clung to each other. Avisha has experienced grief, loss, language and cultural differences, and has ingrained trust issues. Over the past five years, he has made huge progress, but he will need a deeply invested parent.
Avisha has struggled academically only because he didnt attend school in his early years. He strives to do well and is more than willing to listen and learn. He would like to keep in touch with his sister and previous foster parents.
The adoption team will be looking for parents who understand children who come from the hard places of early abuse, neglect and abandonment.
