Christine Taylor is being held in the Ada County Jail a felony charge of malicious injury to property and a misdemeanor DUI after Meridian Police say she was drunk when she intentionally smashed her car into the garage door of the home of someone she knew Thursday afternoon.
The impact caused the garage door to collapse and damage a car that was inside the garage, according to Meridian Police. The crash caused over $1,000 in damage, which is why Taylor is charged with the felony, police say.
Police were sent to the home, located on Zircon Avenue in the Fairview Avenue/Locust Grove neighborhood, just before 4 p.m. Thursday when someone who lived there called 911 to say someone just drove into their house.
When police arrived, the car was gone but Taylor drove by moments later, got out her car, and told police she did it, according to reports. Police say the home is where an acquaintance of Taylors ex-boyfriend lives.
Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Taylor, who also failed field sobriety tests, according to reports. Police arrested Taylor for the DUI after she took a breath test and registered a blood alcohol content (bac) percentage over twice the legal bac limit of .08, according to police reports.
Police also found at least one open can of Keystone Ice beer inside the car, which led to an additional misdemeanor charge, according to reports. Taylor will make her initial court appearance Friday afternoon.
The crime of felony malicious injury to property is punishable by up to five years in prison.
