Idaho colleges roundup: Utah State runs the table in men’s hoops win over Idaho

Utah State’s 18-3 run to begin the game proved too much for Idaho to overcome, and the Aggies never trailed en route to a 77-67 win Thursday in Moscow. Four Vandals scored in double figures, led by Stephen Madison and Connor Hill, who scored 14 points apiece. Idaho trailed 46-44 with less than 11 minutes remaining before a 15-2 Utah State run crippled Idaho (8-12, 4-6). Jarred Shaw made 12-of-15 field goals and finished with 27 points and nine rebounds for Utah State (15-5, 6-4 WAC).

IDAHO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Utah State ended the Vandals’ three-game winning streak with an 81-50 win Thursday in Logan, Utah. Stacey Barr scored 13 points for the Vandals (9-12, 6-4 WAC), who hit just 14-of-70 shots.

IDAHO STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL: The Bengals fell to Northern Colorado 78-63 in Greeley, Colo. Melvin Morgan led ISU (4-15, 3-7 Big Sky) with 18 points.

ISU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Northern Colorado made a jumper with 8.1 seconds left to edge the Bengals 50-49 in Pocatello. Ashleigh Vella led Idaho State (11-9, 6-5 Big Sky) with 18 points.

BOISE STATE SWIMMING: Jessica Bottelberghe was named Mountain West swimmer of the week.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO TRACK & FIELD: Hillary Holt of Meridian was named NAIA national women’s indoor track athlete of the week.
