The artists at Opera Idaho are getting out of the opera box and into the more fluid world of collaborative arts. The “Winterreise” project (pronounced vinter-rysa) brings together baritone Jason Detwiler and choreographer Lauren Edson (pictured), along with Boise Dance Cooperative and video artist Jason Sievers. “Winterreise” is a song cycle by Schubert about a man whose faithless lover sends him on a journey into the dark winter night. Edson and Detwiler mix the literal meaning of the poetry in the 24 songs with plenty of metaphor to explore its themes of love and despair.
