White winter continues: Boise Drivers, be warned

Published: January 29, 2013

More snow on the way? The National Weather Service says the Treasure Valley could have anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of fresh snowfall for the Tuesday morning commute.

Why? A northwesterly flow of wind is supposed to push a warm front through overnight. The overnight low is supposed to be 31 degrees and the Tuesday high is expected to be 36. We shouldn’t have a return to the frigid temperatures of early January.

Mountains will get more: Bogus Basin could have a foot of new snow by the time the storm is over Tuesday afternoon. That’s good news, because the mountain has picked up just a few inches over the past few weeks despite Idaho’s deep freeze.

Snow, then blow: The weather service issued a wind advisory for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Winds could reach 30 to 40 mph, with gusts as high as 50 in Mountain Home.
