SNOW REMOVAL
ACHD creates havoc for county residents
Clearing sidewalks of snow? Not a problem until ACHD comes through and plows the streets and pushes all the snow up on the sidewalks.
Why does someone have to complain to code enforcement, it is quite obvious if theyd get off there bottoms and get out of the office and just look, theres uncleared sidewalks all over the place creating havoc for all folks handicap and the elderly alike. Also ACHD needs to figure out another place to move street snow other than up against the curb and over sidewalks, making it the owners problem, theyre the ones with the proper equipment.
We cant move snow back into the street so why can they move it up on our sidewalks making the property owner deal with it. Dont we pay them to remove the snow, not just move it for the property owner to deal with? Im tired of being dumped on by ACHD.

SEN. CRAPO
Statesman was fair
I must disagree with the readers who feel the Statesman was unfair to Sen. Mike Crapo by mentioning his religion when covering his drunk driving arrest. They were merely reporting the facts.
Sen. Crapo has in the past stressed that he does not drink due this religion. If we cant trust him on this, what can we trust him on? Religion is not the issue here, honesty is.

SIMPSON
Congressman loses touch with Idaho constituents
I think Rep. Mike Simpson has lost touch with the voters of Idaho. Did he forget who elected him to office? Simpson is part of the problem. not part of the solution.
It appears he would prefer to please John Boehner than the people he is suppose to be representing. If anyone has lost credibility it is Mr. Simpson, not Rep. Raul Labrador. It appears Rep. Simpson has been drinking too much Kool-Aid. He would be better off spending more time with his constituents in Idaho than with his cronies in Washington.
The people of Idaho are very tired of the old boys club and their refusal to force cuts in spending necessary to help balance our budget. Retribution for not voting how they asked you to vote could cost you dearly in the next election.

OBAMA
President too liberal for former Democrat
Its been a long time since I wrote, Time to eat crow. I used to be a staunch liberal Democrat. No more. This party has gone to hell.
I am now a conservative convert. Why? Because Obama is the worst president and leader in my lifetime. He has promoted the welfare program that Clinton reformed. Abortion is the new norm and used for birth control. The majority of welfare recipients could care less about making a living and they only voted for the free handouts.
Obama certainly did not win on his record. Our debt is out of control and all he wants is more authority to raise it. The fiscal cliff is now a mountain. He continues to chip away at our rights. We really needed Romney/Ryan to get us back on track, but the other media ended that with their disgusting campaign lies/scares and never stating both sides of the story.
If all of you who voted for the man cant see the path to socialism, then you are really ignorant. Watch the movie Obama 2016, it is coming true. Remember, you cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealth out of prosperity. God help us.

Obamas executive order is mark of dictatorship
What is frightening about President Obamas 23 new gun laws is not only the changes that have been made concerning gun ownership; its about our president making the laws by executive order.
Our system of checks and balances (the Legislative Branch is responsible for making the laws) has been undermined in this latest abuse of power.
No other president in history has shown such disregard for considering the will of the people before dictating new laws. Too quickly our government is turning into a dictatorship rather than a democracy. The cries for impeachment need to rise from the people.

STATESMAN
Paper ignores rally
The Sunday, Jan. 20 edition of the Idaho Statesman featured coverage of the Second Amendment Rally held the preceding day. We were disappointed that your paper, which enjoys a wide readership and excellent reputation, didnt cover the Roe v. Wade March for Life and Rally, which was also held at the Capitol on the 19th.

IRRIGATION DISPUTE
The City of Caldwell is to blame for the mess
Regarding the lawsuit involving Pioneer Irrigation District and the City of Caldwell, we would like to issue a statement from Canyon County Pomona Grange and all Canyon County subordinate granges declaring for the Pioneer Irrigation District.
The issue here is that the City of Caldwell did illegally allow new developments to dump water off streets into irrigation canals, which were established long before these subdivisions. This runoff can be potentially hazardous to crops and even livestock down stream from these developments.
More regulation coming down concerning contaminated irrigation water causing outbreaks of salmonella and other diseases would increase the financial burden on irrigators and possibly cause their crops to be useless.
A ruling in favor of the City of Caldwell could impact many irrigation districts in Idaho as well as other states.
