The Boise architectural and engineering firm will leave the two floors it occupies in the C.W. Moore Building at Fifth and Front streets for 20,000 square feet of renovated space in the warehouse at Second and Broad streets.
CSHQA is moving to get all its employees on one floor. The firm also undertook the renovation to show the community what it can do with an old building, said KK Lipsey, business development director.
CSHQA’s new location will feature sustainable construction and building maintenance practices. Among them: skylights, innovative on-site storm water management, and recycling during construction and day-to-day operations. The building also will provide secure, covered bicycle storage for commuters.
The building is owned by the Wilcomb family of Boise. Tim Wilcomb is a third-generation family member whose company, Jordan-Wilcomb Construction will perform the renovation work. Wilcomb’s grandfather built the warehouse in 1959, said Kent Hanway, CSHQA president.
Preserving the building will add value to Downtown and keep the property from someday turning into another parking lot, Hanway said.
A separate company has formed to buy the building. The company includes the Wilcombs and members of CSHQA.
CSHQA traces its roots to a one-person firm founded by W.S. Campbell in 1889. The firm took the name Cline Smull Hamill Quintieri Associates in 1979 and shortened it to CSHQA six years later.
