Caldwell City Council member David Clark is resigning to take a job in Houston, Texas, he said in an email to Mayor Garret Nancolas and council members.

He was elected to Seat 6 in November 2011 and took office one year ago this month. His last council meeting will be Monday, he said in the email, which was sent Sunday evening.

Clark, founder and managing partner of Social Media Gurus, said he will start work Feb. 11 as a sales branch manager for web.com. He said it is hard to leave Caldwell, but "the offer was too sweet to say no." The company builds websites and works in social media and search-engine optimization for businesses, he said. Nancolas will form a committee to screen applicants to fill the remaining three years of Clark’s term. The last time the Caldwell council had an opening was when Jim Dakan retired last spring, and 12 people applied. A committee whittled the field to three applicants, and Nancolas selected Mike Pollard as the new Seat 1 councilman.
