Last year brought the high-profile closures of longtime Downtown Boise businesses like Brick Oven Bistro, Steve Rambo Jewelers, River City Guitars and Moxie Java.

But for every business that closed its doors, about two new ones sprouted up in Boise's urban core.

Fourteen businesses in Downtown Boise closed and 25 businesses opened in 2012. Four businesses, such as Wiseguy Pizza, expanded and/or changed names. Two more were close to opening as of year-end, and three businesses moved to new locations in the Downtown neighborhood, according to the Downtown Boise Association.

The list of newcomers includes Bleubird Cafe at 224 N. 10th St., Costa Vida at 801 W. Main St., SpaceBar Arcade at 200 N. Capitol Blvd. and two medical clinics, Primary Health Medical Group and ZoomCare Healthcare on Demand.
