Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State women’s hoops team topples Nevada

Lauren Lenhardt scored 22 points as the Broncos defeated Nevada 67-58 on Saturday at Taco Bell Arena. Lenhardt now ranks eighth all-time in career scoring with 1,179 points, while Diana Lee recorded two assists to move into a tie for 10th in career assists with 245. It was the fifth straight home victory for BSU (10-8, 3-2 Mountain West) and snapped Nevada's three-game win streak over the Broncos, who lead the all-time series with the Wolf Pack 31-14 in the oldest rivalry among Mountain West members. Nevada dropped to 6-12 overall, 1-4 MW.

BSU TRACK & FIELD: The Broncos collected seven titles on the second day of the Jacksons Invitational/New Balance Boise Indoor meet in Nampa to bring their weekend total to 10 victories. Emma Bates crushed the school record in the women’s mile (4:43.76), and the men’s 4x400-meter relay team also set a new school record (3:11.99). Other winners for BSU included: Karrie Butler (men’s 400-meter, 47.44), Justin Malnes (men’s 60 hurdles, 8.07), Chase Sexton (men’s shot put, 59-0.75), Rolando Trammel (heptathlon, 4,978 points), and the women’s 4x400 relay team (3:47.67).

BSU SWIMMING & DIVING: The Broncos won 12-of-13 events in a 171-72 win over Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo. Stevie Hughey and Jessica Bottelberghe each won two individual events and one relay in BSU’s regular-season finale.

BSU MEN’S TENNIS: The Broncos lost to Santa Clara 4-1 in the ITA Kick Off in Berkeley, Calif. Freshman Thomas Tenreiro earned the Broncos’ only singles victory, defeating Eugene Muchynski 6-1, 6-3 to improve to 4-0 this season.

IDAHO MEN’S BASKETBALL: Kyle Barone’s 25 points and 16 rebounds led Idaho as the Vandals closed out UTSA 74-70 in Moscow. Barone went 10-of-10 from the floor to break Idaho’s single-game field goal percentage record. Mike McChristian’s 3-pointer with just less than one minute left in the game gave the Vandals a 4-point cushion over the Roadrunners (5-14, 1-8 WAC), and Connor Hill scored 15 points and made 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to seal the win for Idaho (8-11, 4-5).

IDAHO WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Four Vandals scored in double figures in a 64-45 victory at Texas-San Antonio. Christina Salvatore, Connie Ballestero and Jessica Graham scored 13 points apiece, while Alyssa Charlston chipped in 11 points for Idaho (9-11, 6-3 WAC).

IDAHO STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL: Montana State edged the Bengals 61-59 in Bozeman, Mont. Chris Hansen scored 20 points for ISU (4-15, 3-7 Big Sky).

ISU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Bengals rolled past Montana State 63-55 in Pocatello. Ashleigh Vella scored 22 points for ISU (14-5, 8-2 Big Sky).

COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S BASKETBALL: The Coyotes upset No. 15 Northwest 84-72 in Kirkland, Wash. Taylor Pruitt led the C of I (19-6, 9-4 Cascade Conference) with 18 points.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Western Washington ended the Crusaders’ nine-game win streak with a 70-66 win in Nampa. Chelsie Luke scored a game-high 24 points for NNU (14-3, 6-3 GNAC).
