Canyon County shelter will compete again in national challenge

Published: January 26, 2013

CALDWELL — In 2012, the Canyon County Animal Shelter won second place in the Rachael Ray $100,000 ASPCA Challenge for increasing its pet adoption rates over the previous year’s.

The prize brought $50,000 to the shelter’s coffers.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals recently announced the names of 50 shelters that will compete in 2013 for the windfall, and the Canyon County facility is on the list. It is the only Idaho shelter in the competition.

The shelter’s challenge is getting more animals adopted during June, July and August than it did in the same period in 2012.
