Idaho Steelheads escape Utah with 5-3 victory

Published: January 22, 2013

Tyler Beskorowany turned in a 50-save outing Monday afternoon and Tyler Gron scored twice as the Steelheads beat the Grizzlies 5-3 in their final game before the All-Star break.

Beskorowany stopped 50-of-53 shots, becoming the first goaltender other than Jerry Kuhn to make 50 saves in a game for the Steelheads.

Idaho (25-10-5), which won despite being outshot 53-24 and going 0-for-3 on the power play, also had goals from Austin Fyten, Ian Watters and David deKastrozza (empty net).

Fyten, a forward who has scored 26 points in the past 21 games, will represent Idaho in the All-Star Game on Wednesday in Loveland, Colo.

The Steelheads head to the East Coast for three games this weekend, and return home Feb. 6 against Utah.
