Weigh in Tuesday on disability-access proposal for Lake Lowell boat ramp

Published: January 21, 2013

A Tuesday afternoon open house aims to provide information and gather input to provide boating access at the east Upper Dam boat ramp at Lake Lowell for people with disabilities.

The open house is set from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge visitors center, just off the intersection of Indiana and Roosevelt avenues, Nampa.

Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge is applying for a Waterways Improvement Fund grant from the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation to partially fund this project, which would install ADA-accessible vault toilets, provide accessible parking spaces and improving the east side of the launch ramp to provide disability access to the gangway and boarding floats.

Area residents are invited to provide written comments on the project, which is not related to the Comprehensive Conservation Planning Process that is still under way for the refuge. For more information, call 467-9278.
