Power restored to about 3,500 customers in western Treasure Valley

Published: January 21, 2013

About 3,500 customers in the western edge of the Treasure Valley got their power back on just after 10:30 a.m. Monday after being without it for almost five hours.

Idaho Power officials say the cause of the outage appears to be a downed main transmission line along Highway 20/26.

Outages were reported in Parma, Caldwell, Notus, Sand Hollow, Fruitland, and New Plymouth.

The first calls about the loss of power started coming in around 4 a.m. Idaho Power officials say the equipment failure was weather and ice related. Crews finished repairs around 10:30 a.m.

Temperatures dipped below 0 for the third morning in a row Monday.
