About 800 supporters of gun rights came to the Idaho Statehouse Saturday for the "Guns Across America" rally held by the Republican Liberty Caucus of Idaho.

The group was encouraging gun owners to show their support for open carry laws.

Mike Yost of Meridian, who brought his two grandkids to the event, carried a Rock River AR 223 across his back. "I'm afraid we're losing our Second Amendment rights," he said.

A number of people in the crowd carried signs, including "Citizen, not Servant," "No More Sandy Hooks, Arm Teachers," and "A Republic, If You Can Keep It."

The Boise event was part of a national rally held in other states. The rally was one of two in Idaho on Saturday. Gun rights advocates also met in Coeur d'Alene.
