Wood River Valley groups join forces for the arts

Published: January 11, 2013

The Sun Valley Center for the Arts and Company of Fools officially merged last week, becoming the largest arts organization in Idaho.

The Sun Valley Center is creating multi-discipline arts exhibits that include visual, literary, film, music, dance and other elements — but not theater.

Company of Fools came to Hailey from Virginia in 1996 to produce theater at the Liberty Theatre, a former movie house converted for live performance. It offers educational outreach programs and classes to the community at large. The Center absorbed the Fools officially in January and will begin adding theater to its mix this spring with the next exhibit, “Home Front,” an exploration of war as it is experienced by those left tending the home fires.

The Fools will continue to operate out of the Liberty, producing its main stage season, in addition to creating programs and shows that correspond with the Center’s exhibits.
