Christopher Lynn Thick

Ada County Jail

Meridian police used pepper spray to arrest a domestic violence suspect during a standoff Wednesday.

Christopher Lynn Thick, 26, is accused of trying to strangle a woman in front of four children between the ages of 3 and 9.

Officers responded a home in the 2000 block of North Tangent Avenue, just west of Ten Mile Road, about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, where the victim told them Thick had choked her into unconsciousness.

Thick had fled the home, but someone told police he was back there on Wednesday and they went to arrest him.

Officers set up a perimeter around the home about 1 p.m. as Thick hid in the attic of a garage. He surrendered about 3 p.m., said Tracy Basterrechea, deputy chief of the Meridian Police Department.

Thick was booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence in the presence of children and felony attempted strangulation. He also faces two misdemeanor counts of resisting police officers.
