BOISE — Boise police took Robert K. Streicher, 35, into custody after a nearly four-hour incident early Saturday morning.

A neighbor called police to an apartment complex in the 5100 block of West Morris Hill about 4:15 a.m. She reported hearing a window shatter and noises outside.

Officers arrived and found an apartment with a broken window and saw a man running away. They gave chase, and the man, later identified as Streicher, climbed up an awning and onto the roof of the complex.

At the same time, other officers determined there was a possibility that firearms had been taken from the apartment with the broken window.

Police set up a perimeter around the complex. After many hours in the cold, they enlisted the help of a ladder truck from the Boise Fire Department. They were able to arrest Streicher without further incident. He was taken to a hospital to be examined for any possible cold-related injuries.

Officers recovered personal items that were stolen from the apartment, but there were no firearms.

Streicher was also charged with resisting officers, a misdemeanor.
