Idahoans who lost homes to foreclosure have until Jan. 18 to apply for a payment under a $25 billion national mortgage settlement with five national banks.
To apply, an eligible borrower must send a claim form to the settlement administrator before Jan. 18. The administrator started notifying eligible borrowers and sending claim packets in September. Idaho borrowers who may be eligible but haven't received a claim packet can call (866) 430-8358.
Borrowers can be eligible if they had a home loan with Bank of America, Ally/GMAC, Citi, JPMorgan Chase, or Wells Fargo; if the bank foreclosed on the home between 2008 and 2011; and if that foreclosure was caused by the bank's alleged errors or wrongdoing.
Borrowers can claim a minimum of $840. The actual amount paid to claimants will be determined based on how many borrowers return their claim forms.
