Did you make a New Year’s resolution to be more cultured? Then start the year off with a trip to the Boise Art Museum. The Western jewel features an array of styles and mediums from the last century, and contemporary artists working in the Northwest and Idaho. Here’s some of what you can see right now:

• Glass artist William Morris and painter Alexis Rockman collaborated on “The Art of Nature” (pictured). The show juxtaposes Rockman’s paintings and Morris’ vessels to offer a new dimension on organic imagery.

• Boise’s Troy Passey’s stark and captivating black-and-white works use language as part of his medium, turning words into images.

• Go on a safari with sculptor Billie Grace Lynn’s life-size “White Elephants” made from rip-stock nylon. These ethereal creatures shift and sway and create a metaphor for today’s lifestyle that is too expensive to sustain, yet too precious to surrender.
