Boise groups plan events to mark Roe v. Wade anniversary

Jan. 22 marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Local groups that oppose abortion rights are planning a number of events.

Volunteers and members of the Respect Life ministries and the Knights of Columbus will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 7960 Northview St. in Boise to erect crosses on the church lawn. Volunteers should dress warm and bring their own hammers. Coffee and cocoa will be served.

Respect Life ministries and St. John's Social Justice groups sponsor a "Life Mass," 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19 at St. John's Cathedral, 775 N. 8th St. Bishop Michael Driscoll is celebrant; Deacon Pierce Murphy is the homilist.

The March for Life and rally sponsored by Idaho Right to Life begin at 1 p.m. on Jan. 19 in Julia Davis Park. Participants will march to the Idaho State Capitol and rally at 1:30 p.m. Marchers and supporters will return to the St. John's Parish Hall after the rally for a reception hosted by St. John’s Knights of Columbus.
